India's batting disappointed on a pitch offering some bounce to the South African pacers. Except for Dhoni, who counter-attacked with a good innings of 65, and Kohli to some extent with 31, the rest of the batsmen failed to live up to their top billing.

Steyn, who started his spell with two maidens in a row, caused the most damage with his fiery spell of three for 25 in eight overs, including three maidens. McLaren took three for 49 in eight overs, while Morkel and Kallis picked up a wicket each.
