Champions Trophy updates! West Indies edge past Pakistan at Oval

Sunil Narine, coming in at No.9, has begun well with the bat, hitting a boundary apiece off Ajmal and Riaz. 

Riaz ends his spell with figures of two for 42 and Ajmal has final figures of two of 38.

Irfan returns to have Narine (11) caught behind. 

But a boundary by Kemar Roach seals it for the West Indies with 56 balls left.

Saeed Ajmal to bowl the second over of the batting powerplay, replacing Junaid (7-0-29-0).

He strikes fourth ball, having Bravo (19) out leg before. The Windies captain goes for a review though. And loses.

Soon after drinks, Pakistan make a double bowling change, Wahab Riaz replaces Hafeez (4-0-14-1) and Junaid Khan comes in for Irfan (8-029-2). 

The batting powerplay is taken in the 36th over and Pollard smashes Riaz's first ball through extra cover for four.

However, the bowler hits back two balls later having Pollard (30) caught behind. Pollard's 57-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and a six and he helped his captain add 43 runs (off 62 balls) for the sixth wicket.

Mohammad Hafeez provides Pakistan with a vital breakthrough in the 26th over, having Samuels (20) stumped. 

Captain Dwayne Bravo comes in to join Pollard at the crease. The Windies reach the 100-run mark in the 28th over, courtesy a Bravo single.

West Indies 102 for five after 28 overs.

Kieron Pollard has been promoted ahead of his captain. It takes him 18 balls to score his first run.

A single by Gayle in Ajmal's third over helps raise the 50-run partnership for the third wicket.

Ajmal provides Pakistan an all-important breakthrough in his fourth over, getting an inside edge off Gayle (39). 

Gayle's 47-ball innings was inclusive of four boundaries and a six and he helped Samuels add 63 runs (off 76 balls) for the third wicket. 

Ramnaresh Sarwan comes out to replace Gayle. He doesn't survive for long, Riaz having him caught behind.

Gayle hits successive boundaries in Irfan's fifth over to ease the pressure. 

Saeed Ajmal is introduced in the attack in the 11th over, replacing Irfan (5-0-23-2). He gives away a single, enough for Windies to reach the 50-run mark.

It's a double bowling change, Riaz replacing Junaid (5-0-20-0) at the other end.

West Indies 59 for two after 13 overs.

Mohammad Irfan strikes again in the second ball of his third over, having Darren Bravo (0) caught behind. 

Marlon Samuels comes out to join Gayle at the crease. The latter, having survived some uncomfortable moments, smashes a six off Irfan, followed by a boundary, to ease the pressure a bit.

West Indies 30 for two after seven overs.

Johnson Charles hits the first ball of Irfan's second over over cover for his second boundary. The bowler hits back three balls later, having Charles (9) caught by Wahab Riaz at fine leg.

Chris Gayle and Johnson Charles open the batting for West Indies after a rain delay. It is Mohammad Irfan first up for Pakistan. 

He gives away just a single. Junaid Khan takes the second new ball. Charles hits his fifth ball to the fence. 

West Indies seven without loss after two overs.

Pakistan fail to bat full 50 overs. In the 48th, Rampaul has Mohammad Irfan (2) caught by Bravo at short leg. 

Misbah is left stranded on 96, still without an ODI hundred. 

Pakistan restricted to 170 at The Oval. 

The West Indies will like their chances now.

Dwayne Bravo gets his first wicket in the 41st over when he has Junaid Khan (0) caught by Gayle. 

Misbah is fighting a lone battle here for Pakistan. He is in his nineties now.

Kemar Roach concedes five runs in his final over to end with impressive figures (10-4-28-3).

The powerplay is taken in the 36th over. Rampaul to bowl. He gives away five runs and the over also witnesses Wahab Riaz being warned for running on the wicket.

Riaz (6) doesn't survive for long though, Bravo running him out on his follow through.

Pakistan 131 for seven after 37 overs.

Narine gets his third wicket in his sixth over, having Kamran Akmal (2) caught behind. It's a carrom ball which the Pak keeper fails to pick.

Misbah albeit brings up his fifty in style with a boundary off Roach. It's his 24th ODI fifty. The Pakistan captain is still without a one-day hundred.

Pakistan 115 for six after 33 overs.

Pakistan 106-5 (30 overs)

Kemar Roach is back to bow, replacing Bravo (5-0-18-0) in the 23rd over. He gives away just two runs but fails to break the partnership.

A single off Samuels helps Jamshed complete his fifty. 

However, Narine has Jamshed (50) caught by Rampaul at long-off in the next over. Jamshed's 93-ball innings included five boundaries and he helped his captain add 90 runs (off 139 balls) for the fourth wicket.

Two balls later, Narine strikes again having Shoaib Malik caught by Bravo at short midwicket.

Pakistan 106 for five after 30 overs.

Pakistan 66-3 (22 overs)

Pakistan reach the 50-run mark in the 18th over, courtesy a single by Jamshed. 

Kieron Pollard replaces Narine (3-0-12-0) in the attack in the 20th over and Misbah welcomes him with a boundary to fine-leg, his first. 

The 50-run partnership for the third wicket is attained in the 22nd over, courtesy a single by Misbah off Pollard. It's taken a lot of time (15 overs) but considering the woeful start Pakistan had (15-3) it is a good effort that has helped them regroup.

Pakistan 66 for three after 22 overs.

Dwayne Bravo comes in to bowl as the first change, replacing Rampaul (5-0-16-0) in the 12th over. He gives away six runs, including a boundary to Jamshed.

Kemar Roach's first spell (6-4-7-3) figures make for a spectacular reading. Marlon Samuels replaces him in the 13th over and gives away four runs. 

Sunil Narine is introduced into the attack in the 14th over and he, expectedly starts off well.

Pakistan 42 for three after 16 overs.

Pakistan 23-3 (10 overs)

Asad Shafiq fails to open his account, Roach having him caught by Rampaul at third man. Its the bowler's third wicket.

This brings Misbah, the captain, out to the crease. The over, Roach's fourth, is a maiden as well. He has been exceptional today.

Pakistan 15-2 (6 overs)

Asad Shafiq has come out to bat earlier than expected. Pakistan in a spot of bother having lost two early wickets. 

Jamshed needs to take up the responsibility now.

Pakistan 15 for two after six overs.

Pakistan 14-2 (5 overs)

Mohammad Hafeez has joined Jamshed at the crease following the early dismissal.

Ravi Rampaul to share the new ball. He gives away just two runs in his first over. Roach's second is a maiden but Jamshed eases the pressure by hitting the first ball of Rampaul's second over left of point for the first boundary of the innings. 

Hafeez's first boundary comes in the second ball of Roach's third over, a perfect square drive right of point. However, the bowler hits back in the very next ball, getting through Hafeez's defence. 

Pakistan 14 for two after five overs.

Imrat Farhat and Nasir Jamshed open the batting for Pakistan and it will be Kemar Roach first up for West Indies. 

Roach strikes first ball, having Farhat (2) caught by Bravo at first slip.

West Indies has won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first in the second match of the ICC Champions Trophy at The Oval. 

"We want to bowl first and get the nerves out of the way," reasons new captain Dwayne Bravo. His opposite number, Misbah-ul Haq, concurs.

"We would have bowled first too," he admits.
