ScorecardINDIA WIN BY 5 RUNS!!!England 124-8 (20 overs) vs India 129-7Two years after winning the 50-overs World Cup at home, India complete a grand double by winning the ICC Champions Trophy with two completely different teams.
The match was reduced to 20 overs after rain delayed the start by nearly six overs but there was no stopping India, who finished the tournament unbeaten with some splendid cricket with both bat and ball.
There was a lot of pressure on the Indian team after the match-fixing saga in the IPL but the team cut off all the distractions and focussed on the task on hand to complete another remarkable victory.
Seniors Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan were all missing from the line-up. But the young squad came up with some brilliant performances led by the dashing Shikhar Dhawan, who finished as the top run scorer in the tournament 363 runs at an average of 90 and a strike rate of 101.
Rohit Sharma played his part in his new role as the opener with 177 runs while Virat Kohli fired when it really mattered with a top innings of 43 under pressure.
Ravindra Jadeja added a lot of balance to the team, scoring quick runs at the end, while claiming 12 wickets to finish as the top wicket-taker in the tournament at an average of 12.83 and an astonishing economy rate of 3.75.
