STUMPS - DAY 2

Aus 517-7 (120 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

So that's stumps for the second day. The umpires decide that the light is not good enough to continue as the players go off the field.

Smith was unbeaten on a superb knock of 162, having hit 21 fours in 231 balls, that helped Australia reach 517 for seven in 120 overs at close on Day 2.

Clarke, who returned from injury after taking painkillers, played a splendid innings of 128. He had resumed on 60 after he was forced to retire on Day 1 following a back injury.

The rain-hit day belonged completely to Australia, who hammered 163 runs in 30.4 overs for the loss of just one wicket.

All the Indian bowlers disappointed and looked clueless on how to stop Clarke and Smith's onslaught. Shami, Aaron and Karn picked up two wickets each with Ishant getting one wicket.

Surprising that Australia didn't declare before close and have a go at the Indians for a few overs.

It remains to be seen if they declare overnight and ask India to bat at the start of Day 3. Remember play starts 30 minutes early, at 0500 hours IST, on the third day.
