Smith, Clarke take Australia past 400

Clarke struggling with his back but he is still brave enough to take on the short balls and attempt the pull shots.

India's fastest bowler Varun Aaron is brought back as Clarke flicks a full delivery to deep midwicket for a single.

Smith continues to bat fluently and plays a crisp cover drive but is unable to find the gap. In his next over, Aaron drifts on the pads and Smith helps it fine for a four to move into the 90s.

The umpires initially decide to halt play with a very light drizzle on but the two batsmen are not that keen to go off. And the umpires decide to continue after a brief chat with the one of the groundstaff but it is getting very dark in Adelaide.

Clarke then steers a short wide delivery from Aaron over the point region for a boundary as Australia continue their good progress on the second morning.

After exactly 100 overs, Australia are 400 for six with Clarke on 85 from 114 balls and Smith on 93 from 164 balls with the duo having added 46 runs so far this morning.
