RAINS STOP PLAY!

Aus 423-6 (103.3 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Play finally resumes after the lunch break. Smith clips the first ball on the leg side for two runs to bring up his century, from 173 balls. He goes towards the 408 written on the outfield and raises his helmet and bat towards the sky to celebrate the landmark and also remember his friend and team mate Phil Hughes.

Karn Sharma is introduced as Clarke takes a single to take the score to 408 and the crowd stand up to applaud the score and pay tribute to Phil Hughes, who was Australia's 408th Test cricketer.

Clarke then charges the leg-spinner and lofts him straight down the ground for a boundary. He tries the shot again but this time gets an edge for three runs past the slip fielder. The last ball is short and wide as Clarke rocks back and punches it through point for a boundary to move to 97.

Kohli decides to bring on part-time spinner Murali Vijay into the attack. Smith takes a single form the first ball followed by Clarke hitting it to midwicket for one to take his score to 98.

Smith blocks the third ball before it starts to rain and the players are forced to go off the field.
