At stumps on Day 2, England were 43 for one in 17 overs, still trailing India by 414 runs with three more days to go on a pitch which has gone completely dead as far as the bowlers are concerned.

Sam Robson looked solid to score 20 not out from 48 balls, while Gary Ballance had a few edges falling short of the slips for 15 from 46 balls.

England's under-pressure captain Cook was bowled off his thigh pad for five as his side closed on 43-1 in reply to India's 457, which included a 111 partnership between Bhuvneshwar Kumar and number 11 Mohammed Shami - a last-wicket record for India against England.
