Heavy rain in Kolkata has delayed the start of the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals match at the Eden Gardens.

It has been pouring non-stop for the last few hours and even though it has stopped raining there is too much of water on the covers.

"Well it has stopped raining, but there is so much standing water that the covers are barely being moved #KKRvRR #IPL," IPL's official Twitter account said.

There will be an official inspection after the rain subsides but that looks too far away at the moment.

The scene was pretty similar on Saturday too as the rain battered the Eden Gardens for more than three hours around the same time denying KKR practice on the eve of the match and they had to content with the indoor facility.

The local Met office has blamed it on a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining South Bengal.

KKR's last outing in Visakhapatnam too was affected by rain as they were done in by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 16 runs via Duckworth-Lewis method.
