Zim 56-3 (17 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Taylor has still not come to terms with the wicket as he gets an inside edge trying to drive it through the off-side to pick up a single on the leg side. A high bouncer from Mohit is called a wide before Williams retains strike with a single from the last ball.

Williams comes down the track and lofts Jadeja over mid-off for a four which brings up Zimbabwe's 50, in the 17th over.

Taylor also gives Jadeja and lofts him down the ground, beating a diving Sami at long-on for a four. The bowler is not too pleased with that effort and feels he could have made a better effort to take that difficult catch.

At the first drinks break, Zimbabwe have recovered slightly to reach 56 for three in 17 overs.

As expected change of ends for Mohit as he replaces Ashwin. Williams edges the first ball which goes on the bounce to first slip, where Raina makes another superb diving stop to save a run or two.

Mohit injures his leg as he tumbles on his follow through and is attended to by the physio.

Williams gets an edge off the next delivery, this time it's the inside edge, but Dhoni is unable to hold on.

Jadeja will continue as he rushes through his second over, conceding just a single as Zimbabwe reach 43 for three in 15 overs.

Time for spin as Ravichandran Ashwin comes into the attack after a good first spell from Yadav, who took one for 18 in five overs.

Taylor gets a single from the first ball on the leg side. Some turn and bounce on offer for the off-spinner as left-hander Sean Williams drives the fourth ball down to long-off for one and Taylor retains strike with one from the last ball.

Spin from both ends as Dhoni takes off Mohit despite taking a wicket in his first over. Maybe he wants to bring the pacer from the other end.

Taylor decides to go after Jadeja straightaway as he sweeps the second ball powerfully behind square on the leg side for a four. Two balls later, he takes a single and Williams does the same off the last ball.

Mohit Sharma comes into the attack, replacing Shami, who bowled a superb first spell of one for eight in five overs.

Mire throws hit bat at one outside the off-stump but gets a thick outside edge which flies past point for a four. He strokes the next ball through the same region and gets a couple as Jadeja sprints after it and pulls it back close to the ropes.

Mohit strikes with the last ball of the over. Mire gets a thin outside edge as the Indians appeal but not with much conviction. The umpire takes his time to decide but the batsman starts walking immediately. Snicko confirms that Mire indeed got an edge on that one.

Mire is dismissed for nine as Zimbabwe are reduced to 33 for three in 11 overs.
07:17   Zimbabwe struggle after early wickets, India on top
Zim 27-2 (10 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Mire taps Yadav on the leg side for a single, the first run for Zimbabwe after 23 deliveries. Taylor finally gets one on the bat as he clips it square on the leg side to pick up two and gets another couple from the fifth ball through the off-side.

Shami starts his fourth with a wide down the leg side before Mire nearly chops one back to his stumps as he looks to defend a short ball. He survives a shout for LBW with the impact clearly high on the pads before he manages to see out the rest of the over.

Taylor drives Yadav down the ground past mid-on for a couple and two balls later he lofts one over the off-side for a four, the first after a gap of nearly seven overs and only the second of the innings.

Taylor tries the upper cut again but fails to make connection. He gets a bottom edge off the last ball which goes on the bounce to the slips but Dhawan deflects it over for two runs.

Zimbabwe are 27 for two in 10 overs with Taylor on 12 and Mire on three.

Zim 13-2 (7 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Zimbabwe feeling the pressure already as Mire watchfully plays out another maiden over from Yadav.

Taylor attempts the upper cut to a short ball from Shami, but he is beaten. He then throws his bat at a wide delivery but misses again as Dhoni and the slips appeal but Shami is undecided. The umpire feels the pressure too as he forgets to call it a wide despite ruling that there was no edge. Snicko confirms there was no edge.

Taylor is beaten again off the third ball as he yet again tries to drive the last ball.

Three maiden overs in succession as Zimbabwe struggle to 13 for two in seven overs.

Zim 13-2 (5 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Shami gets his name in the wickets column in the very next over. Another full delivery does the trick as Chibhabha gets a thick outside edge and Shikhar Dhawan does well to hold on to it at second slip, taking a couple of small steps before lunging full length to his right.

Brendan Taylor walks in to bat in his final match for Zimbabwe. He plays and misses the first ball he faces.

A wicket maiden for Shami as Zimbabwe are reduced to 13 for two in five overs.
06:49   Yadav strikes early, Zimbabwe lose early wicket
Zim 13-1 (4 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Masakadza turns Shami on the leg side for a single. Chibhabha throws his bat at one outside the off-stump but gets an inside edge which goes past the keeper for a four. The next ball is struck on the pads but the appeal for LBW is turned down before the Zimbabwe opener plays out the rest of the over.

Yadav strikes in the next over as Masakadza is caught behind for two. A full delivery which pitches right in the channel and nips away enough to take the edge as Dhoni completes a regulation catch to give India the early breakthrough.

Solomon Mire gets a promotion as he comes in at No. 3. He clips the fourth delivery on the leg side for a couple but edges the last ball which falls short of the third slip fielder.
06:40   India elect to bowl vs Zim, retain same team
Zim 6-0 (2 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Umesh Yadav to bowl the second over. The second ball is short and wide as Masakadza plays a powerful cut shot but Rohit Sharma puts in a dive to his left to stop that one. He takes a single from the next ball to get off the mark. Chibhabha turns the last ball square on the leg side as they decide to risk a quick second run but Shami sends back a poor throw from the deep, which goes over the keeper.

Zim 3-0 (1 ov) vs India | Scorecard

Chamu Chibhabha and Hamilton Masakadza to open the batting for Zimbabwe and Mohammed Shami will as usual bowl the first over for the Indians.

The second ball is short of good length and moves away as Chibhabha is beaten trying to slash it through the off-side but he gets a single from the next ball to thirdman.

The third ball is quick, comes in sharply and bounces a bit more, hitting Masakadza on the pads who comes half forward to defend as they take a leg bye. Shami tries the outswinger which moves away a lot as Dhoni has to dive full length to his right to collect it and it is rightly called a wide. The last ball is right on the spot as Chibhabha is beaten outside the off-stump to end a good opening over.

This will serve as a good practice match for defending champions India ahead of their quarter-final match against Bangladesh, in Melbourne, on March 19.

India go into the quarter-final against their neighbours as favourites, but will certainly not take them lightly, not wanting to suffer the same fate as they did in the 2007 edition.

06:16   India win toss; elect to bowl vs Zimbabwe
Welcome to the coverage of the 39th match of the ICC World Cup between India and Zimbabwe at Eden Park, in Auckland, on Saturday.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won the toss and elected to field in the inconsequential match.

India, who have won their first five matches, have already qualified for the quarter-finals from Pool B, while Zimbabwe with just one win from the same number of matches are out of the running for a place in the last eight.

Zimbabwe's regular captain Elton Chigumbura once again misses out because of injury.

Brendon Taylor, 29, will lead the side in his absence in what will be his final appearance for Zimbabwe in international cricket. He played 23 Tests and 166 ODIs since making his debut in 2004.
