LUNCH - DAY 3

SA 105-4 (45 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Amla-du Plessis stand proves that with a little bit of patience and application, it is not that difficult to survive on this wicket, which also slowed down considerably in the last two days.

Faf, who has struggled right through the series, seems to have got the measure of the pitch. The odd ball is still doing things but Faf doing well to fight it out in the middle and Amla at the other end has looked quite solid.

The duo manage to successfully take South Africa to 105 for four at lunch on Day 3, with anothe 206 runs needed for victory.

Faf is batting on 23 from 66 balls, while Amla is on 28 from 93 balls with the duo having added 47 runs in 131 balls in 83 minutes for the fifth wicket so far.

Ashwin and Jadeja bowled well in the morning session but once they were taken out of the attack, the Proteas batsman had no problems at all. Mishra did create a few chances and so did Ishant, but India will look at Ashwin and Jadeja to bowl majority of the overs after the lunch break.

It was a good session of Test cricket, with South Africa scoring 73 runs in 31 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Another hour of good batting in the post-lunch session could make the match more interesting. If India pick up a couple of quick wickets after the lunch break, the result will be a foregone conclusion.
