- Aus 274-4 (44 ovs) vs India 309-3 | SCORECARD

Has Dhoni missed a possible stumping chance? Smith comes down the track as Ashwin bowling from round the wicket slips it wide down the leg side but Dhoni fails to collect it.

But Ashwin gets the wicket in that over as Bailey is caught at long-off a few deliveries later with Bhuvneshwar doing well to run across to his right and judge it well.

Bailey walks back for 112 from 120 balls after he had put on a match-winning partnership of 242 runs for the third wicket with captain Smith.

Glenn Maxwell is the new batsman for Australia as left-armer Sran replaces Jadeja.

Australia in total control right now and only a cluster of wickets can bring India back into the contest.

Maxwell gets off the mark with a single, pulling a short ball from Bran to fine leg before Smith has a few words with the young pacer.

He nearly chops one back to the stumps in that over as he picks up a streaky single on the leg side and Maxwell ends the over with another run.

Australia are 269 for three in 43 overs with another 41 needed from 42 balls for victory.

Ashwin bowling against the man, who has given quite a lot of punishment -- Maxwell. He starts with two dot balls before slapping one through the covers for a four before he holes out to long-on attempting another big hit down the ground.

That wicket of Maxwell will give India a slimmer of a hope but Smith, batting on 129 from 116 balls, holds the key.

Australia do have all-rounders Marsh and Faulkner and wicketkeeper Wade to follow who are quite capable with the bat.

Two good overs in a row from Ashwin as he took two wickets for eight runs to improve his figures slightly to two for 62 in eight overs.

Australia are 274 for four in 44 overs with 36 runs needed from as many deliveries.
