India 172-6 (52.3 ovs); Target to win: 301 | Scorecard

Captain Virat Kohli hit 49 not out to help India draw the first Test against England after they were set 301 for victory.

A superb innings under from the Indian captain as he battled hard on the final day when the other Indian top order batsmen gave their wicket away quite easily.

Kohli got good support from Ashwin as they put on 47 runs for the fifth wicket but saw 15.2 overs during their partnership that proved to be instrumental in the final result.

India will need to come up with a much improved showing in the next Test match, starting in Vizag from Thursday, November 17.
