England 253-2 (74 ovs) & 537 vs India 488 | Scorecard

Mishra bowling a poor line, on the pads to Cook, who sweeps it twice through the leg side for boundaries. He then comes down the track and again Mishra bowls a full toss on the pads as Cook despatches it through the leg side for the third four of the over, which goes for 14 runs.

Mishra has so much rough outside the left-hander's off-stump but he has been faulty with his line after lunch.

Four singles off Ashwin, who has resorted to bowling it well outside the leg-stump to keep the batsmen quiet. Cook and Stokes have brought up the 50-run stand from 65 balls for the third wicket as England have done well to keep the runs flowing after the lunch break, scoring 32 runs in six overs since the resumption.

England are 243 for two in 72 overs with an overall lead of 292 runs with 55 overs still remaining in the match.

Yadav replaces Mishra, who was hit for three fours in his previous over. The first ball is wide as Cook reaches out and hits it wide of thirdman for two runs.

The next ball is in the slot outside the off-stump as Cook thrashes it through the covers for a four. The England captain has been in smashing form after lunch as the visitors look to get India into bat as soon as possible.

Yadav beats Cook with one that goes across the left-hander as he throws his bat and the Indians go up in appeal immediately but the umpire turns it down. The Indians take the DRS but replays show that Cook missed the ball by a long way. That was a poor call by the Indians as they waste a referral.

Cook edges the last ball to thirdman for a single to bring up England's 250, in the 73rd over.

Four singles in the next over by Ashwin, who is yet to take a wicket in 23 overs, sees England's lead cross the 300-run mark, with 53 overs left in the day.
