India declare their first innings on a huge 557 for five after having batted for 169 overs in nearly two full days.

Captain Virat Kohli led the way with a sparkling innings of 211 to end his recent run of poor scores, adding 365 runs for the fourth wicket with Rahane, who made 188.

Rohit hit a brisk 51 not out towards the end, while Jadeja made 17 as India's batsmen made most of batting first on a good wicket.

For New Zealand, Trent Boult and Jeetan Patel claimed two wickets each but were made to work really hard for the same.

New Zealand have nine overs to survive on the second day before stumps.
