Good start from Ashwin as he starts bang on the mark, on the areas just on and around the off-stump, trying to make Guptill drive against the spin through the off-side.

The Kiwi opener carefully plays out the first over of spin from the Indians. Ravi Jadeja comes on from the other end with India using spinners from both ends.

Latham is content to defend the left-arm spinner with just a couple of overs left for stumps.

Guptill can't resist having a go at the spinners, slog sweeping Ashwin over midwicket for a six. This is quite brave by the Kiwi opener in the final over of the day and the Indians won't certainly mind it.

At stumps on Day 2, NZ reach 28 for no loss in nine overs in reply to India's 557 for five declared. Guptill is unbeaten on 16 from 28 balls, while Latham is on six at close.
