LUNCH - DAY 3

SL 82-4 (42 ovs) 135 vs India 487 | Scorecard

India managed to chip away at the wickets, claiming three of them in the first hour, before Mathews and Chandimal steadied the ship somewhat.

Sri Lanka have been content to bat for survival, scoring at under two runs per over to reach 82 for four in 42 overs at the lunch break. They still another 270 runs to avoid the humiliation of an innings defeat.

Chandimal was unbeaten on 26 at the break, with Mathews on 17.

Ashwin had given India the perfect start on Day 3 with the wicket of Karunaratne, who was caught in the slips for 16.

Shami then left Sri Lanka in a total mess with the wickets of Pushpakumara (1) and Mendis (12) in successive overs in an excellent spell of fast bowling in the morning session.

With not much batting to follow for the hapless, India would be pushing to finish off the match on Day 3 itself.
