SL 101-4 (24 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel comes into the attack in place of Chahal, who bowled an excellent first spell of one for 15 in four overs.

He starts right on the mark, full and just around the off-stump as Mathews defends the first two balls before he misses out a short wide ball and then takes a single to long-off. Mendis blocks the last two balls as Axar makes a good start.

Pandya tries the short as Mathews pulls but can't beat the fielder at midwicket and he does the same off the next ball before showing his frustration at not being able to make most of the two short balls.

Mathews then punches a full delivery down the ground for a four to finally break the shackles followed by a single to take Sri Lanka to 90 for three in 20 overs.

Mathews drives Axar down to long-on for one before Mendis drives the next through the covers for a couple and then turns the last ball on the leg side for another single.

Spin from both ends now as Chahal replaces Pandya, who took one for 20 in five overs in his first spell.

He continues to keep things tight as he gives away just two singles in his fifth over.

Axar mixing his pace quite well while maintaining a good line to keep the batsmen guessing and make them work hard for their runs. India trying to build the pressure by drying up the runs and force Mendis and Mathews, who are naturally aggressive players, to commit a mistake by trying to break free.

Mendis succumbs to the pressure as he looks to sweep Chahal but misses and is struck right in front of the stumps. The umpire immediately rules him out leg before wicket and Mendis decides to take the review but the on-field umpire's decision stays with the ball going on hit the stumps.
