Welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the first Test between India and Australia in Pune, on Friday.

India will be desperate to claim the final wicket and Australia's resistance, who finished the opening day on 256 for nine in 94 overs.

Mitchell Starc smashed a quickfire 57 from 58 balls, including five fours and three sixes, and was involved in an unbroken stand of 51 for the last wicket with Josh Hazlewood, who was not out on one.

The duo have so far played 12.1 overs and would be looking to add a few more runs and take Australia close to the 300-run mark.

Paceman Umesh Yadav claimed four wickets on a pitch that offered big turn to help India restrict Australia.

20-year-old Matt Renshaw, who had to leave the field in the morning with an upset stomach, returned to the crease to hit 68 before he was caught out at slip off Ashwin.
