STUMPS - DAY 2

Aus 143-4 (46 ovs) & 260 vs India 105 | Scorecard

Australia are in complete command at stumps on the second day as they reach 143 for four in 46 overs, having stretched their overall lead to 298 runs.

Captain Smith, who was dropped thrice, played a good innings on a difficult wicket to be unbeaten on 59, while Marsh hit a few boundaries to be not out on 21.

Ashwin claimed all three wickets to fall in the Australian second innings but Jadeja bowled a lot of overs without much luck on a turning wicket still offering a lot of assistance to the spinners.

It was a horrible batting display by the Indians as were bundled out for a paltry 105 to concede a huge 155-run lead.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe was outstanding with the ball, claiming six for 35 as India suffered a sensational collapse in the post-lunch session, losing seven wickets for 11 runs in eight overs.

Rahul top scored with 64, the only Indian batsman to get past 20, but his dismissal after he played a rash shot proved to be the turning point and the trigger point for India's batting collapse.

Australia are sitting pretty at the moment with a lead of nearly 300 runs and it would take some extra-ordinary effort from the Indians to win from here.
