16:54   Lyon leads Australia's fightback, India 248-6 at stumps

India 248-6 (91 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Nathan Lyon produced an impressive spell of spin bowling to lead Australia's fightback and leave the Test match evenly poised at close on Day 2.

Off-spinner Lyon claimed four for 67 in 28 overs to reduce India to 248 for six in 91 overs at stumps on the second day, trailing Australia by 52 runs.

India were comfortably placed at 153 for two at the break before Lyon revived Australia with the wickets of Pujara, Karun, Rahane and Ashwin.

Pujara fell in the first over of the post-tea session for 57, while Karun perished after scoring just five to continue his poor showing in the series.

Rahane failed to carry on after getting off to a start after he was caught at slip for 46, while Ashwin was trapped leg before wicket for 30.

Jadeja's positive knock saw India steady things somewhat before stumps as he stroked an entertaining 16 not out with two sixes, while Saha was unbeaten on a patient innings of 10.

The first hour on Day 3 will hold the key. If India manage to see off Australia's pacers who have the new ball then they could go on to take the lead. The visitors have a real chance of bowling out the Indians quickly and grab the lead which could prove vital on this pitch, starting to play tricks and getting difficult for batsmen.
16:47   Lyon leads Australia's fightback, India 248-6 at stumps

India 248-6 (91 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

With Jadeja taking on the spinners, Australia take the second new ball and bring back Cummins back into the attack.

He bowls a superb delivery, which comes in sharply, going through the gap between the pad and bat of Saha, who comes half forward to defend. This could be a testing few overs for India and they will do well if they manage to avoid any more wickets before stumps.

Cummins finds the edge off the last ball as Saha (9) pokes at one moving away but Renshaw at first slip puts down a straightforward chance. This is the second dropped catch by Renshaw today, he had earlier dropped Rahul, who went to score a half-century.

Hazlewood comes on from the other end. The first ball is down the leg side as Jadeja looks to flick it aggressively but he misses out. He drives the fifth ball down to mid-off and takes a single and Saha keeps out the last ball which seems to have bounced a bit more than expected.

Cummins bowls a short ball which hits Jadeja on the pads and goes fine as Wade does well to save some runs with India getting a leg bye before Saha sees off the over.

Hazlewood bowls the last over of the day which again Saha manages to see off as he takes a single from the fifth ball and Jadeja gets one from the last ball.

16:22

India 243-6 (87 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Jadeja gets off the mark with a single on the off-side before Saha is deceived by one which goes straight on as it takes the edge past the slips for a couple.

Jadeja will look to bat in his trademark aggressive fashion. After defending a couple of deliveries from O'Keefe, he deposits the left-arm spinner high over long-on for a huge six and then takes a single to point.

The last ball is overpitched as Saha drives it beautifully through the off-side for a four to get 11 runs from the over.

Jadeja is turning it on out in the middle. Lyon bowls a rare loose delivery, pitched well short, as Jadeja pulls it comfortably over midwicket for a six to go past 1000 runs in Test cricket.

16:11   Lyon picks 4th wicket, India in trouble

India 221-6 (83 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

O'Keefe gets one to turn big as Ashwin can only watch it go through to the keeper before he takes a single on the off-side.

Wriddhiman Saha gets off the mark with two runs fine on the leg side as he plays the lap sweep. Two balls later, he looks to repeat the shot but misses the ball and there is a shot for LBW which the umpire turns down. With two balls left for the 80-over mark, Australia take their last remaining DRS review but the ball is bouncing over the stumps and Saha survives.

With the spinners getting a lot of help in the last few overs, it remains to be seen if Australia take the new ball or let the spinners continue with the old ball.

Australia are continuing with the old ball for now. Ashwin looking quite comfortable as he turns Lyon on the leg side for one. Saha comes forward to defend but the ball turns and bounce as it hits him on the thigh pads. He looks to pad the next delivery as he misjudges the length but somehow manages to keep it out with the Aussies appealing for LBW which is rejected with the impact outside the line of off-stump.

Saha attempting the paddle sweep regularly without much success. He looks to try it again but O'Keefe beats him with the full length delivery before he is beaten by one which turns and bounces.

O'Keefe is convinced but umpire Ian Gould is not and the Australians decide to take the DRS. The Ultra Edge shows that there was no edge which Australia lose one of their reviews which was topped up after 80 overs.

Ashwin goes back and across as he looks to turn it on the leg side but is beaten by one which turns sharply from Lyon. The on-field umpire gives it out as Ashwin takes the review after consulting with Saha.

The decision stays with the umpire's call as Ashwin is dismissed for 30 with Lyon bagging his fourth wicket.

The pitch is doing everything at the moment and Lyon is looking as dangerous as anything.

New batsman Ravindra Jadeja gets a virtual unplayable delivery, turn and bounce as it goes past the edge of the bat and even wicketkeeper Wade had problems collecting as it bounces quite steeply. He looks to cut the fifth ball, which is marginally shot, but the extra bounce beats him.
15:51   Rahane dismissed for 46, India lose 5th wicket

India 216-5 (79 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

O'Keefe gets one to grip and turn as he beats Rahane, who comes forward to defend before he is struck on the pads off the next ball but the LBW call is turned down. The Australians take the first first DRS review of the match, late in the second day, but the impact is well outside off-stump and missing the stumps so the umpire's decision stays.

Ashwin continues to keep the runs coming as he cuts O'Keefe again behind point for a four. Rahane sweeps the fifth ball over midwicket for the second four of the over as India continue their good progress against the spinners.

But against the run of play, Lyon strikes with the key wicket of Rahane, who gets an edge and is caught by Smith at slip for 46. Rahane went right back in his crease to a full delivery and only ended up getting an edge.

A big wicket for Australia as India are reduced to 216 for five, still trailing the visitors by 84 runs.

15:38   Rahane, Ashwin take India past 200

India 202-4 (75 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

With seven overs for the second new ball, Australia bring O'Keefe to partner Lyon and give their pacers some rest.

Ashwin cuts O'Keefe for boundaries off successive deliveries as the left-arm spinner drops short on both occasion as he looks to score some runs before the new ball is taken.

Rahane also takes a cue from Ashwin as he slams Lyon for back to back fours in the next over. He comes down the track and lofts Ashwin over midwicket before cutting a short ball past point to take India past the 200-run mark, in the 75th over.
15:26

India 186-4 (72 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Rahane goes after a wide delivery from Cummins but gets an edge which flies over the slips for a four. This is terrific bowling from the Australians after the tea break as they shown a lot of aggression and have been rewarded with a couple of wickets.

Lyon bowls the quicker delivery which is down the leg side as Rahane goes back and glances it fine for a four.

Cummins pushes Ashwin back with a bouncer before he slips in the full wide delivery which the right-hander chases and is beaten. He drives the next ball through the covers for a couple to get off the mark.

Hazlewood comes back into the attack in place of Cummins, who has bowled 19 overs in the day so far. Ashwin collects another single on the leg side and picks another run in the next over from Lyon.

Rahane goes back and turns Lyon on the leg side for a single before Rahane also does the same off the last ball to keep strike.

Karun goes after a wide full delivery from Cummins and is lucky not to have edged it. He has struggled for runs in this series and needs a big knock to justify his place in the team.

Lyon strikes again as Karun gets an inside edge on to his thigh pads and is caught down the leg side for five. Another batting failure for Karun to leave India in a spot of bother at 167 for four, still trailing Australia by 133 runs.

14:44   Pujara dismissed for 57, India lose 3rd wkt

India 164-3 (62 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Off-spinner Lyon strikes in the first over of the post-tea session with the wicket of Pujara, who is caught at short leg for 57. He looked to come forward to defend but was beaten in the air as Lyon got some extra bounce and turn to take the gloves as Peter Handscomb took a good sharp catch close in on the leg side.

That is a huge wicket for Australia right at the start of a new session. Australia bring back Cummins to attack from the other end with new batsman Karun Nair out in the middle.

Rahane drives the first ball from the fast bowler through the covers for three runs. Karun defends the first two balls he faces before he ducks under a short ball and edges the last ball which goes past the slips for a four to get him off the mark.
14:14   Pujara hits fifty to guide India to 153-2 at tea

TEA - DAY 2

India 153-2 (60 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Another session which belongs to India as they go into the tea break at 153 for two in 60 overs, trailing Australia by 147 runs.

India's 'Wall' Pujara once again stood tall to thwart the Aussie bowlers as registered yet another fifty, to be unbeaten on 53 at the tea break. Rahane played a few strange shots at the start of his innings before he settled down to be 19 not out.

Earlier, KL Rahul made 60, his fifth half-century before he threw his wicket away with a reckless pull shot against Cummins as he was caught at mid-off.

Rahul and Pujara steadied India after the early dismissal of Vijay as they put on 87 runs for the second wicket.

India will look to bat in the same tempo after the tea break and look to get as close as possible to Australia's score before stumps on the second day.

14:10

India 153-2 (60 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Rahane decides to take a risk as he slog sweeps O'Keefe over midwicket for a four as India look to break the shackles and also put the pressure back on the Australian spinners.

The fast bowlers have bowled a lot of overs today, sent down some quick overs and Australia would be looking to give them a break till tea and bring them back fresh to start the next session.

Pujara has looked solid against both pace and spin and looks like he has dropped the anchor to play another big knock to take the game away from the visitors.

Rahane has settled down nicely now as he quietly plays out a maiden over from O'Keefe to end the post-lunch session.

13:58   Pujara hits half-century to lift India on Day 2

India 145-2 (55 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

In the next over, Pujara gets a leading edge which nearly carries back to the bowler O'Keefe.

The two spinners are looking to build the pressure with some tight overs but India are content to defend with tea time around 15 minutes away.

O'Keefe bowls a good delivery as Rahane comes forward to defend but gets a thick outside edge which goes between silly point and slip.

Pujara breaks the shackles as he comes down the track to Lyon and hits him through midwicket to bring up his 15th Test fifty in some style and continue his golden run with the bat.
13:47

India 140-2 (50 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

No moving Pujara, who continues to build his innings at his own gradual pace. He takes a long stride forward before he flicks a full delivery on the pads from O'Keefe through midwicket for a four.

In the next over, Cummins tries a bouncer at Rahane, who lets it go through before getting hit high on the pads and takes a leg bye to get off strike.

Rahane looking very shaky out in the middle. He initially looks to duck the short ball before at the last minute pulls it but manages to keep it along the ground for a single to deep square leg.

A single each to the two batsmen off O'Keefe, who has looked to keep his end tight while the pacers attack from the other end.

For a change, Cummins overpitches as Pujara flicks it off his pads for a four through midwicket.

Another quiet over from O'Keefe as two singles come from it, which should help relax Rahane, who looked quite shaky at the start.

Meanwhile, Hazlewood replaces Cummins as Pujara flicks the first ball through midwicket for a couple and then picks a single on the off-side off the fifth ball.

O'Keefe gets one to turn and bounce as Rahane goes for the drive but is beaten and wicketkeeper Wade is unable to collect it as the Australians are excited.

The ball has gone a bit soft and Hazlewood is not creating too many problems for the batsmen as Pujara plays out a maiden over.

Two runs from the next over by O'Keefe as India reach 139 for two in 50 overs.
13:08   Rahul dismissed for 60, India lose 2nd wicket

India 118-2 (41 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Cummins bowls another sharp bouncer at Rahul, who manages to fend it on the off-side but looks uncomfortable doing it.

An aggressive Cummins attempts another bounce as Rahul looks to pull but gets it off the bottom of the bat and is caught at mid-off for 60.

Another start thrown by Rahul as he looked on course for a big century on a good batting wicket.

All Rahul needed was some common sense as Cummins was in the third over of the spell and would not have bowled further in this spell. But Rahul decided to take on the short ball to make his point to the pacer who was giving him a tough time with the ball and some words.

India will be disappointed with Rahul's response as they give Australia a chance to make a comeback.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane also seems troubled by the short balls from Cummins as he tries the ramp shot but misses.

Pujara looks to makes a statement early on as he hits the next bouncer over midwicket for a four to get off the mark. He looks to swipe the next short ball but gets a top edge which flies over the slips and it carries all the way for a six. Not good tactics from India as they are falling into Australia's trap here.
12:58   Rahul, Pujara take India past 100

India 107-1 (39 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Rahul completes his half-century in some style as he comes down the track and flicks O'Keefe over midwicket for a boundary to reach the landmark from 98 balls, having eight fours and a six.

Rahul continues his consistent run with the bat in the series, having scored his fourth fifty in a row and his fifth of the series.

He edges the next ball but it falls safely on the off-side before he nearly drags one back to the stumps, trying to play the cut shot to one close to the stumps.

Pujara is looking quite solid as he flicks a full delivery from Hazlewood through midwicket for three runs.

Rahul is looking quite loose as he gets another edge off the pacer but it falls short of the fielder in the slips.

Rahul plays a risky drive through the covers, it was in the air for some time but falls short of the fielder. Cummins tries the short ball at the body which Rahul fends on the leg side but wide of the fielder at short fine leg.

He looked a bit edgy in the last 10 minutes but Rahul manages to make up with a beautiful shot, punching a slightly short delivery from Cummins through the covers for a four to take India past the 100-run mark in the 39th over.

The last ball slips down the leg side as Pujara misses the glance but still gets four leg byes as India reach 107 for one in 39 overs, trailing Australia by 193 runs.
12:34   Rahul, Pujara steady India after early wicket

India 85-1 (33 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of the post-lunch session on Day 2. Hazlewood will begin proceedings for Australia with the ball and facing him will be Rahul, who looked quite solid in the morning as he faced a testing spell from the pacers, including a barrage of short balls.

Rahul defends the first two balls before he drives the third through the gap in the covers for a four. He is struck on the gloves off the last ball as Hazlewood bowls a quick bouncer on the body.

11:36   Rahul, Pujara guide India to 64-1 at lunch

LUNCH - DAY 2

India 64-1 (28 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

A good morning session for the Indians as they lose just one wicket while scoring 64 runs in 27 overs to lay a solid foundation.

The key for India was playing out the new ball which the openers managed quiet well as they had to endure a testing spell from both pacers -- Hazlewood and Cummins.

Vijay perished cheaply for 11 as he was caught behind off Hazlewood.

But Rahul continued his rich vein of form, hitting 31 not out, while the in-form Pujara also got off to a good start to be unbeaten on 22.

India would be hoping to continue their good showing in the next two sessions and continue to build their score slowly and steadily.
11:33

India 64-1 (28 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Australia are looking to keep the scoring rate tied up as they try to build up some pressure but India's batsmen are content to play out the first session.

Cummins has bowled quite a few overs in the morning session. He bowls a quick short ball to Rahul clocked at 149kmph, who does well to drop his gloves and let the ball alone.

This could well be his last over of session, having bowled 10 overs for 22 runs so far at a good pace since the start of play on the second day.

Pujara showed a lot of application and patience during his double century in the last game and here again he is content to bide his time and get his eye in.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe comes into the attack. Pujara chips down the track and drives the second ball through the covers for a boundary. Lyon bowls the last over of the session in which Rahul gets a single as India end a good first session.

India 52-1 (21 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Another couple of overs for Cummins before he makes way for Lyon, who bowled just two overs in his first spell. Rahul and Pujara take a single each from the 16th over.

Change of ends for Cummins as he takes over from Hazlewood, who bowled a superb first spell of eight overs for 16 runs.

Pujara takes a single from the second ball on the off-side before Rahul does well to defend the remaining four deliveries.

Pujara drives Lyon to long-on before Rahul sweeps the off-spinner uppishly over square leg for a four. Two balls later he goes right back and cuts a short ball past the slip fielder for a couple.

Pujara again picks a single as he turns Cummins to fine leg. There are a couple of fielders close in on the leg side for Rahul -- at leg slip and short leg -- with Cummins looking to test him with short balls. Rahul shuffles across before he guides a short ball past the leg slip fielder for a four to take his score to 25 as he yet again gets off to a start.

In the pacer's next over, Rahul plays a cracking straight drive for a four to take India past the 50-run mark, in the 21st over.

10:40

India 31-1 (14 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Good captaincy from Steve Smith to bring back Cummins from the other end and look for another wicket while the ball is still new.

He nearly strikes as he gets Rahul, on 10, to edge one but Matt Renshaw at first slip is unable to take it as the ball flies past him and goes for a four.

Cummins bowls another quick bouncer at Rahul, who does well to avoid it.

Hazlewood having a long first spell as he continues to bowl his seventh over of the first spell, including one on Day 1. Pujara looking to be watchful as he defends solidly before he flicks the last ball of his pads to fine leg for one.

Pujara gets off strike with a single on the off-side off Cummins before Rahul has to deal with a couple of more bouncers from the fast bowler.

The first hour has gone well for India except for the wicket of Vijay as they reach 41 for one in 14 overs at the drinks break with Rahul on 14 and Cummins on six.

A desperate Australia have given their pacers a long spell to pick up wickets before their spinners can take over. However, India's top order have done well to keep the fast bowlers at bay while laying a solid foundation for the team.
10:20   Vijay out for 11, India lose 1st wicket

India 25-1 (11 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Australia introduce spin as Nathan Lyon comes into the attack in place of Cummins, who bowled a brief first spell of three overs.

The first ball is full and wide as Rahul welcomes Lyon with a sweetly timed boundary through the covers. The next ball is immediately a bit short and Rahul goes back and turns it on the leg side for a single and Vijay takes a single from the last ball to keep strike.

The good feature of Vijay's batting so far has been the numbers of balls he has left outside the off-stump from the pacers. However, he takes full toll off a wide half volley from Hazlewood as he plays away from his body, hitting it square on the off-side for a four. The pacer then gets Vijay to edge one but the ball falls well short of a diving Wade to his right.

Meanwhile, Lyon gets Rahul to inside edge but it hits the pads and goes away from the stumps before the right-hander sees off the over.

Hazlewood's persistence is finally rewarded. Vijay again gets the edge and this time it carries at a good height to wicketkeeper Wade, who pouches it easily to give Australia the first breakthrough. Infact, Vijay was guilty of poking at one outside the off-stump when he could have well left it alone as he had been till this point.

Cheteshwar Pujara off the mark in confident fashion, crashing a wide half-volley through the covers for a four.
10:04   India off to a quiet start on Day 2

India 11-0 (7 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Pat Cummins to start off with the ball on Day 2. Murali Vijay gets off the mark straightaway with a single on the off-side off the first ball of the day as Glenn Maxwell misfields. Rahul turns the next ball on the leg side as he also gets off the mark off the very next delivery before Vijay plays out the rest of the over.

Josh Hazlewood from the other end. The first ball is on the stumps as Rahul flicks it through midwicket for three runs as Nathan Lyon did well to stop it inside the ropes. Vijay plays a half-hearted drive off the next ball which nearly carries to David Warner at mid-off as it falls just short. Vijay ends the over in confident fashion as he drives it confidently on the up through the covers for the first boundary of the Indian innings.

Cummins bowls a good probing over to Rahul, who has to be at his watchful best to keep it out. He bowls a couple of good bouncers as Rahul defends the first one before he does well to avoid the next one, swaying out of the way.

Hazlewood bowls an absolute peach, beating Vijay all ends up. The ball initially tailed in before hitting a crack and moving away quite sharply, beating the edge and also the off-stump. Vijay is again beaten off the last ball as Hazlewood gets some movement again to past the edge of the bat.

India's openers have done well in the first half an hour to keep the Australian bowlers at bay. The runs have not come but the main objective of seeing off the new ball has been achieved so far.

09:25   Dharamsala Test: India hope for good start on Day 2

India 0-0 (1 ov) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the fourth and final Test between India and Australia in Dharamsala on Sunday.

India would be looking to get off to a good start on the second day and seize the initiative in the morning session.

Debutant chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav's four-wicket haul had helped limit Australia to 300 after Steve Smith had stroked his third century of the series.

Smith, comfortably the leading scorer of the series, made 111 as he and David Warner, who scored 56, added 134 runs for the second wicket to help Australia dominate the morning session after opting to bat.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Yadav, an inspirational selection in India's bold move to go with five bowlers, led the hosts' strong comeback in the post-lunch session when five wickets tumbled for 64 runs.

Matthew Wade made 57 down the order to help Australia reach 300 before the tourists folded leaving India to bat the final over of the day, a maiden one from Josh Hazlewood.

The hosts received a jolt even before a ball was bowled when regular skipper Virat Kohli was ruled out of the match with a shoulder injury he had sustained in the drawn third Test in Ranchi.
