Pandya nearly holes out to the fielder in the covers as he plays an uppish drive but it falls just short of Santner, who makes a good effort diving forward but can't get to the ball.

Boult comes back as New Zealand look for another wicket and put India under pressure.

Karthik pulls the second ball through midwicket for two runs but defends the rest of the over from the left-arm pacer.

New Zealand are 169 for three in 35 overs, needing another 63 runs from 15 overs for victory.

Another pace from the other end as Southee is called back. But the two batsmen looking in no rush as they sensibly pick four singles from the over.

Boult bowls a wide down the leg side before Karthik picks two runs from the next ball to thirdman and then takes one to the same region.

Another couple of singles as six come from the 37th over with India in almost cruise control, two set batsmen out in the middle chasing a required run rate of just over four with lot of wickets in hand.

Southee tries a short ball which Karthik tucks to fine leg for one before Pandya smashes the next short ball behind square for a four to bring the target under the 50-run mark.

The next ball is short and wide as Pandya slaps it past point for another boundary and then taps the fourth ball on the leg side and sprints back for the second run.

Another short ball and another pull from Pandya, this time just for one before Karthik gets a single from the last ball to get 13 from the over.

Santner is back but Pandya not taking the risk as he takes a single before defending the last two balls while Karthik takes one coupled with a leg bye to get three from the over.

De Grandhomme comes into the attack. Karthik clips the first ball on the leg side for two runs before smashing the next through the off-side for a four to raise his half-century in grand style, from 76 balls.

A good knock from Karthik at No. 4 which should help him seal his position for the next few games.

India are looking set for an easy win as they reach 204 for three in 40 overs, needing 27 runs from 10 overs for victory.

Karthik is batting well on 55 from 78 balls, while Pandya has stroked 30 from as many balls.
