Opener KL Rahul blasted 51 from 16 balls while Karun Nair hit 50 from 33 balls to power Punjab to a convincing six-wicket victory against Delhi Daredevils, in the IPL on Sunday.

Delhi never really recovered after Rahul's onslaught and though they claimed a few wickets in the middle, Punjab had the chase under control right through.

David Miller batted sensibly to guide Punjab home with a steady innings of 24, while Marcus Stoinis stroked an unbeaten 22 from 15 balls.

Earlier, captain Gautam Gambhir stroked 55 from 42 balls before Punjab's bowlers restricted the visitors to 166 for seven in their 20 overs.

Afghanistan's young spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman shone on his IPL debut, claiming two for 28, while Mohit Sharma claimed two for 33.

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the second match of the day.
