Fast bowler Siddarth Kaul comes into the attack. Rahul looking to cut loose as he lofts the second ball straight back over the bowler's head for a four. He looks to steer the next ball but can't find the gap as it falls just short of the fielder at short thirdman.

The fielder is pushed back to long-on as Rahul taps the fourth ball to that fielder for a single.

Gayle then opens the face of the bat and hits a wide ball past point for another four in the over.

Another change as pacer Basil Thampi comes into the attack. Rahul gets a single before Gayle hammers the third ball over long-on for a six to raise the 50-run stand for the opening wicket from 40 balls.

Gayle has another swing but this time gets a thick outside edge which falls just short of thirdman.

Punjab look in control on 53 for no loss in seven overs, with Gayle on 22 and Rahul on 31. They need another 80 runs from 13 overs for victory at just over six runs per over.
