He tries to swing Ashwin over the leg side but is beaten and the leg before appeal is turned down considering the big turn.

Pandya tries a bouncer to Woakes but it sails high over the batsman and is called a wide. He inside edges the next ball for a single on the leg side before Bairstow clips the fourth ball through midwicket for two runs.

Pandya then bowls a long hop as Bairstow hammers the short wide delivery through the off-side for a four to take his score into the 40s.

A quiet over from Ashwin as he gives away just a single, to Woakes, as the two England batsmen looked much more comfortable out in the middle.

Spin from both ends as Kuldeep comes into the attack. Bairstow and Woakes easily collect five singles from the spinner's fifth over.

Ashwin has settled into a good rhythm as he bowls a maiden over to Woakes.

In the next over, Bairstow slaps a half-volley from Kuldeep through the covers for a four to raise the 50-run stand for the sixth wicket, from 86 balls, the first 50-run stand of the match, as England continue to build their lead at a good rate.

Bairstow repeats the shot as he brings up his fifty with another glorious cover drive for the second four of the over.

England are 187 for five in 46 overs, have stretched their lead to 80 runs.
