Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes hit unbeaten half-centuries to put England in control on Day 3 of the third Test against India at Lord's on Saturday.

Bairstow rallied England after a few early wickets, as he stroked 62 from 98 balls, to guide the hosts to 230 for five in 55 overs, for a lead of 123 runs.

He put on an unbroken stand of 99 runs form 143 runs for the sixth wicket with Chris Woakes, who played a good hand with the bat, hitting a brisk 55 from 73 balls.

The duo put the England innings back on track after they were struggling on 131 for five at one stage.

Jos Buttler (24) was the only wicket to fall in the post-lunch session when he was trapped leg before wicket by Mohammed Shami, who claimed three for 67, while Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya picked up a wicket each.

England wrestled back the initiative in the post-tea session, scoring 141 runs in 30.2 overs in the post-tea session, scoring at a run rate of 4.65, while losing just one wicket.
