Shami bowls a cracking delivery to Bairstow as it comes in sharply to beat the right-hander. But the next ball is a wide half-volley which Bairstow plays through his favoured cover region for a four.
In the next over, Bairstow again gets a boundary through the same region as Ashwin drops one short as England reach 242 for five in 60 overs, for a lead of 135 runs.
Shami gets one to beat Bairstow, who looks for another cover drive but is beaten by some slight movement.
Three dot balls followed by three singles off the last three balls as the scoreboard continues to tick.
Woakes attacks Ashwin as he heaves the off-spinner with the spin over midwicket for a four. The next ball is punched through the covers for the same result as India's listless bowling attack continues to suffer at the hands of the two English batsmen.
Ishant comes into the attack in place of Shami. He once again gets the ball to dart in sharply as Bairstow gets an inside edge trying to flay it through the covers. But the follow up delivery is poor, short and wide, as Bairstow cracks it through point for a four and is beaten two balls later trying to repeat the shot.
