England 396-7 (88.1 ovs) vs India 107 | Scorecard

England declared their first innings on 396 for seven in 88.1 overs after Hardik Pandya dismissed Sam Curran, caught at thirdman for 40.

Chris Woakes finished unbeaten on a splendid innings of 137 from 177 balls, hitting 21 fours, to help England gain a huge 289-run first innings lead.

After struggling on 131 for five at one stage, England turned the game on it's head courtesy of Woakes's brilliant century as he put on 189 runs for the sixth wicket with Jonny Bairstow, who made 93.

For India, Shami and Pandya picked up three wickets each but it was a disappointing effort by the Indian bowlers as they struggled even against the likes of Woakes and Curran.

Facing a huge first innings lead of 289 runs, India will need to bat out of their skin to save the match.

Question marks also remain over Captain Virat Kohli's fitness, who didn't take the field on Day 4 owing to a stiff back.
