India 48-3 (25 ovs) & 107 vs Eng 396-7 | Scorecard

Captain Virat Kohli walks in at No. 5. Pujara clips the third ball through square leg for two runs and then gets a bye from the next ball as wicketkeeper Bairstow fumbles.

Kohli not looking too comfortable as he defends a full delivery from Woakes and then looks in some discomfort. He is not in good shape but has come out to bat for the sake of the team and it remains to be seen how long India will risk him.

Sam Curran comes into the attack to replace Woakes. Kohli stretches forward to defend a full delivery and takes a single off the third ball as he clips it to square leg and labours across the pitch for one. He is feeling the pain as he limps across to complete the single. This is not good news for the Indian camp.

Curran overpitches as Pujara punches it down the ground for a four, his first after 69 balls, to take the score to 43 for three in 22 overs, still trailing by 246 runs.

Kohli again batting out of his crease and is coming well forward to full deliveries before Broad pushes him back with a short ball which is defended on the leg side.

Broad then drifts wide as Kohli flays it through the covers without much of a fuss for a boundary.

The fast bowler nearly gets back with a cracking delivery which jags away a lot to leave Kohli all at sea as it passes very close to the bat.

Curran gets Pujara to poke at a wide one who is beaten and he does it again three balls later before he takes a single on the leg side.

Broad in midst of a wonderful spell as Pujara gets an inside edge trying to cut before he is beaten by the incoming delivery which flicks the pads.
