India 19-0 (4 ovs) vs England 246 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the fourth Test between England and India in Southampton on Friday.

Sam Curran offered a spirited resistance with a resolute half-century but Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, produced a disciplined effort to dismiss England for 246 on the opening day.

India's opening pair of KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan got through four overs without trouble ending the day on 19 without loss.

They will be hoping that the top order can build some good partnerships and take the visitors towards a big total in the first innings.

Earlier, Curran's 78 helped England recover from 86 for six to 246 all out.

The total may still prove to be well short of what was needed to prevent India taking a strong first-innings lead but Curran at least restored some respectability after a dreadful morning session.

England lead the five-match series 2-1 but were outplayed in the third Test at Trent Bridge and once again on Thursday the tourists' bowling attack combined aggression, movement and consistency as they removed the top order cheaply.

Bumrah scalped three wickets, while Ishant Sharma (2/26), Mohammed Shami (2/51) and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (2/40) took two wickets each and Hardik Pandya (1/51) accounted for one as India's bowlers dominated the proceedings on the opening day.
