India 232-9 (73 ovs) vs England 246 | Scorecard

Pujara does well to defend the first five balls from Rashid, who keeps bowling wide of off-stump before pinching a single off the last ball to retain strike as he punches the last ball to mid-off.

Pujara, on 97, turns the first ball from Moeen down to fine leg but turns down the single. He pulls the second ball to deep midwicket and again decides not to take the run despite needing just three runs to complete his century.

He sweeps the fourth ball through square leg for two runs to take his score to 99.

Pujara looks to block the next ball but is hit on the pads as England appeal for LBW which is turned down.

Moeen pleads with his captain to take the DRS who eventually gives in to his request.

The impact was outside the line of off-stump and the appeal was rejected immediately.

But England are not happy as they feel Pujara was not attempting to play the shot.

He chips down the track and lofts the last ball down the ground back over the bowler's head for a couple to bring up his century.

This is Pujara's first hundred in England and overall his 15th in Test cricket. An important century for the Indians as it has kept them in the game and brought them closer to England's total.
