England 6-0 (4 ovs) & 246 vs India 273 | Scorecard

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin opens the bowling for India. Alastair Cook turns the first ball on the leg side for a single to get off the mark.

Keaton Jennings, batting on a pair, watchfully defends the rest of the over from the spinner.

Jasprit Bumrah to bowl the second over. Cook offers no shot to the first ball and then watchfully defends the next ball before letting another one go through.

He keeps out the next two balls before taking one off the last ball to retain strike.

Ashwin to bowl what could be the final over of the day. Three men close to the bat on the off-side as Cook is content to just block everything with stumps round the corner as he plays out a maiden from Ashwin.

Time for another over as Bumrah continues. The first ball is down the leg side as Jennings glances it fine for a four which gets him off the mark and also off the pair.

Jennings digs out a full delivery from Bumrah off the outer half of the bat towards the gully fielder.

The next ball nearly takes the edge as Bumrah gets it to move away and beat the left-hander, who has a poke, before he offers no shot to the last two balls to end the second day's play.

England are six for no loss in four overs at stumps on Day 2, trailing India by 21 runs.

A see-saw day of cricket as both teams enjoyed the upperhand at different points during the day.

Pujara's century though made the difference as he stroked an unbeaten 132 to steer India to 273, to give them a slender 27-run lead.

Moeen Ali had led England's superb fightback with the ball, picking up five for 63, while Stuart Broad took three for 63.
