South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has won the toss and elected to bat first in the opening ODI vs India in Durban.

The Men in Blue will be intent on winning their first-ever bilateral ODI series on South African soil.

India have previously lost 5-2 in 1992-93, 4-0 in 2006- 07, 3-2 in 2010-11 and 2-0 in 2013-14. They were also part of two triangular series in 1996-97 and 2001-02, featuring Zimbabwe and Kenya respectively, but the Proteas emerged winners on both occasions.

So much so, India's ODI record against South Africa in South Africa is heavily skewered.

Virat Kohli and his men will surely look to reverse this trend and win their first ODI in Durban.
