Joe Root hit an unbeaten century as England beat India by 86 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1, in Lord's in London, on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, England posted a healthy 322 for seven in their 50 overs with Root hitting an unbeaten 113. Captain Eoin Morgan hit a fluent 53 from 51 balls, while David Willey provided the impetus at the end with a quickfire 50 from 31 balls.

In reply, India never got going with the bat and kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 236 with pacer Liam Plunkett picking up four for 46.

Suresh Raina top scored with 46, while Virat Kohli made 45 as the duo put on 80 runs for the fourth wicket as no Indian batsman managed to cross the 50-run mark as the visitors struggled against the England spinners.

Adil Rashid picked up two for 38, while Moeen Ali claimed one for 42, as the two spinners conceded a total of 80 runs from their 20 overs.
