England 32-0 (6 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Roy looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge for a single thirdman before Bairstow plays an ugly swipe across the line but misses as the ball narrowly misses the off-stump, just bouncing over.

Umesh drops short again but this time Bairstow makes proper connection to despatch it over square leg for a six.

He slaps the last ball straight to thirdman where Kuldeep Yadav makes a sluggish effort, taking his time to collect the ball and throw it back as Bairstow is quick to seize the opportunity to steal the second run.

Roy inside edges Kaul as the ball drops on the leg side with the batsman taking a quick single.

Bairstow looking to force the issue as he plays a couple of forceful drives but is unable to find the gap and gets just a single off the last ball as Kaul concedes just two runs in his second over.

Just a couple of overs with the new ball for Umesh before all-rounder Hardik Pandya is called into the attack early.

Bairstow strokes the first ball to the man in the deep on the off-side for a single before Pandya produces a beauty to beat Roy outside the off-stump.

Bairstow miscues the lofted shot over midwicket for a couple of runs before he makes room and tries to drive it through the off-side but fails to make connection.

Kaul continues as Roy turns the first ball through midwicket for three runs and then takes one as Pandya does well at short thirdman, stretching full length to his right.

The ball seems to be stopping a bit as Roy chips down the track but can only defend it back to the bowler. Two balls later, he shuffles across a long way and misses but the confident shout for leg before is turned down, with the impact looking to be outside the line of off-stump.

It has been a steady start for England as they reach 32 for no loss in six overs, with Bairstow on 21 and Roy on 10.
