Eng 38-0 (4 ovs) vs India 256-8 | Scorecard

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to open the bowling and he starts with a long hop, short and wide, which James Vince smashes through the off-side to get off the mark in confident fashion.

Bhuvneshwar does well to concede just a leg bye from the remaining five deliveries.

A surprise move from India as Hardik Pandya takes the new ball from the other end ahead of specialist fast bowler Shardul Thakur.

He starts off well by giving away just two singles in his first over.

But Bhuvneshwar suffers in his second over as Bairstow hits him for four boundaries.

Bhuvi offers the England openers some width as he drills it through the covers for a four and then pulls a short ball over midwicket for the same result.

The fifth ball is a wide half-volley and gets driven for another boundary before Bairstow slaps the last ball for the same result.

Bairstow, playing at his home ground, is looking in ominous touch as far as India are concerned.

Pandya comes under attack from the other end as Bairstow continues his fiery start. A delivery on the stumps is whipped through midwicket before he crashes another half-volley through the covers for back to back fours.

He then takes a quick single to mid-off before Vince picks another run to mid-on.

The last ball is short and on the pads as Bairstow pulls it past short fine leg for the third four of the over as he races to 30 from 12 balls, having hit seven fours so far.

England are off to a flier as they race to 38 for no loss in four overs.
