Eng 78-2 (10 ovs) vs India 256-8 | Scorecard

Change of ends for Bhuvneshwar, who takes over from Pandya. Vince survives a run out chance as he taps it straight to mid-off and sets off for a quick run before he is sent halfway down.

The throw from Chahal was at the wrong end, he threw it to the bowler's end when he should have thrown it to wicketkeeper Dhoni. The bowlers lets it through as it rolls on to Dhoni but the batsman manages to reach his crease before the bails are whipped off.

Vince has another close shave as he inside edges the fifth ball which narrowly misses the stumps and goes for a four as England race to 49 for one in six overs.

In the next over, Root crashes a wide delivery from Thakur through the off-side for his first boundary and take England past the 50-run mark, in the seventh over. The next ball is on the pads as Root misses the flick but the ball hits the pads and goes fine for four leg byes.

Bhuvneshwar struggling with his line and length. Another short wide delivery as Vince hits it through the covers for a four and three balls later he clips it past short fine leg for another boundary to continue the flow of runs to get 10 from the over.

Thakur also drops short as Root pulls it behind square for a four and then takes one followed by two more singles as England race to 74 for one in nine overs, scoring at over eight runs per over.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the attack to bowl the ninth over. And India make the breakthrough as Vince is run out for 27 courtesy of some brilliant glovework from Dhoni.

Root tries to steal a quick run on the leg side but Pandya is quick to get to the ball and send back the throw. It is well short and away from the stumps but Dhoni shows great presence of mind to come up to the stumps quickly, collect the ball with his outstretched right hand and whip off the bails in a flash.

New batsman Eoin Morgan survives a huge shout for leg before wicket as he looks to defend but is beaten by some turn from the leg-spinner.

But Chahal follows it up with a short ball which Morgan hits through the covers as the fielder is unable to stop it and gives away a four.

Despite the wickets, England have raced to 78 for two in 10 overs, needing another 179 runs in 40 overs for victory at under 4.5 per over.
