Afg 15-1 (4 ovs) vs India 474-all | Scorecard

Umesh Yadav to open the bowling for India while Mohammad Shahzad and Javed Ahmadi are the two openers for Afghanistan.

Shahzad goes hard at the third ball, looking for the drive through the covers, but gets a thick outside edge through the thirdman region for a four and register the first runs for Afghanistan in Test cricket.

Two balls later, he gets the inside edge as this time it goes to the left of wicketkeeper Karthik for another four.

Ishant Sharma to bowl from the other end. Ahmadi turns the second ball on the leg side for a single before Shahzad is beaten outside the off-stump as he pokes at a wide one which bounces more than expected.

Shahzad then taps the fourth ball on the off-side for one before Ahmadi defends the last two balls of the over.

Shahzad is facing a stiff examination of his defensive technique as he tries to defend as close as possible but at times has played away and beaten. He does well again to tap the ball on the off-side for another single.

Shahzad flicks a full delivery from Ishant through square leg for a four but loses his wicket a few deliveries later.

He attempts to steal a quick single off the last ball but Pandya at point catches him short with a direct hit.
