Shubman Gill's unbeaten half-century and Dinesh Karthik's quickfire knock helped Kolkata Knight Rider crush Chennai Super Kings by six wickets, in Kolkata, on Thursday.

The young Gill hit an unbeaten 57 from 36 balls, laced with six fours and two sixes, as KKR easily chased down 180 for four in 17.4 overs, to win with 14 balls to spare.

Captain Karthik provided the flourish at the end, with his quickfire 45 not out from 18 balls, having hit seven fours and a six.

Sunil Narine once again provided KKR with a flying start, as he stroked 32 from 20 balls.

Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's late attack lifted CSK to 177 for five after they struggled in the middle overs.

Dhoni stroked an unbeaten 43 from 25 balls to score some quick runs at the end.

Narine starred with the ball, claiming two for 20 in his four overs, while Piyush Chawla claimed two for 35.
