An incredible innings of 95 not out from Jos Buttler kept Rajasthan Royals's play-off hopes alive as they edged past Chennai Super Kings by four wickets.

Opener Buttler carried his team home, hitting 11 fours and two sixes in his 60-ball knock, as the hosts chased down the target of 177 with a ball to spare.

With this win, Rajasthan move to sixth in the table with 10 points from 11 games, the same as Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Krishnappa Gowtham played a handy cameo of 13 from 4 balls, including two sixes off David Willey in the 19th over, while Stuart Binny stroked 22 from 17 balls.

Earlier, Suresh Raina struck his 34th half-century in the IPL to help Chennai Super Kings post a competitive 176 for 4.

CSK's most consistent performer over the years, Raina struck 52 off 35 balls with the help of six boundaries and a six, adding 86 runs for the second wicket with veteran Shane Watson, who scored 39 off 31 balls.
