Yusuf Pathan stroked a quickfire 45 from 25 balls to provide the impetus at the end and lift Sunrisers Hyderabad to 178 for six.

Kane Williamson rallied Sunrisers after an early wicket with a fluent 47 from 36 balls, while Shakib Al Hasan made 23 and Carlos Brathwaite stroked 21 from 11 balls.

The CSK bowlers put in a disciplined effort with the ball, with Lungi Ngidi leading the way with impressive figures of one for 26, while Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo claimed a wicket each.

CSK managed to pull back things at the end as Ngidi and Thakur conceded just 18 from the last two overs, to restrict Sunrisers, who looked set for around the 190-run mark.
