India beat New Zealand by 34 runs to win their opening encounter at the Women's World T20 Championship in Guyana on Friday..

Chasing 195 for win, New Zealand could only muster 160 for 9 as Bates and Martin put on some resistance but without much success. 



Jensen then tries to go after the bowler, misses the ball and is stumped by keeper Bhatia as New Zealand lose their 9th wicker off the last ball of the innings. 

Radha comes back into the attack and Jensen gets off the mark with a single. 

Kasperek then smashes back-to-back boundaries to put Radha under pressure.

Kasperek goes after the bowler, goes straight down the ground but is caught by Deepti Sharma who takes a blinder. She dives in front to complete the catch.

Jensen is the new batter, the batsmen had crossed so Kasperek keeps strike and ends the over with a cut through to the backward point boundary.

Martin on strike as Poonam Yadav comes back and she drops a return catch as the batsmen steal a single.

Kasperek then sweeps the ball past square leg for a boundary. 

Full toss and that is only a single. 

Martin gets some room and she comes down the track and smashes the ball over covers for a four.

Martin is out next ball, she hands Kaur a second catch of the night. Martin gone for 39 off 25 and New Zealand are well and truly staring down the barrel. 

Reddy brought back into the attack and she starts off with a wide ball.

Martin goes after the bowling, this time she dispatches the full toss over fine leg for a four.

She then gets a single. Just 8 runs come in that 18th over as India scent victory.
