Shaw hits century on debut; India 364-4 at stumps

West Indies take the second new ball as pacer Gabriel is called back into the attack.

Kohli picks a single off the first ball before Pant clips the fourth ball on the leg side for two runs.

Gabriel attempts a short ball as Pant pulls it fine to end the over with a four.

Off-spinner Chase continues as he bowls with the second new ball. The shining red cherry slips out of the spinner's hand as it is way down the leg side and beats wicketkeeper Dowrich for four leg byes.

A single to Kohli off the next before Pant blocks the rest of the over with stumps round the corner.

Gabriel getting the new ball to come in sharply as it moves late after passing the batsman and wicketkeeper Dowrich does well to collect it behind the stumps, diving to his left.

Despite the extra half an hour and a couple of spinners bowling, West Indies have been unable to finish their quota of 90 overs, ending up one over short.

Gabriel to bowl the final over of the day. He tries the short ball but Pant won't hold back as he top edges the pull short but it flies over the fielder at fine leg for a six. He was not totally in control of shot but lucky that he got enough power to get it over the fielder waiting on the boundary.

Pant then clips the fourth ball through square leg for a couple before he defends the last two balls.

Led by debutant Shaw's century, India dominated the opening day to finish on 354 for four in 89 overs.
