Youngster Prithvi Shaw hit a century on debut to lift India to 232 for three in 51 overs at the tea break on Day 1 of the first Test against West Indies.

Shaw stroked a brilliant 134, hitting 19 fours in 154 balls, before he was caught and bowled by Devendra Bishoo at the stroke of tea.

Shaw rallied India after an early wicket with his sizzling strokeplay, as he put on 206 runs from 254 balls for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara, who hit a brisk 86 from 130 balls, with 14 fours.

Pujara was caught behind off debutant pacer Sherman Lewis, but not before India had dominated with the bat as they put on 99 runs in 26 overs for the loss of two wickets in the post lunch session.

At the break, Kohli was batting on four and Rahane yet to open his account.
