WI 94-6 (29 ovs) vs India: 649-9d | Scorecard

A dominant India posted a massive 649 for nine before their bowlers chipped away at the wickets to leave West Indies reeling on 94 for six at stumps on Day 2 of the first Test in Rajkot on Friday.

Mohammed Shami sent back both the openers -- Kraigg Brathwaite (2) and Kieran Powell (1) -- cheaply before the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each.

Earlier, centuries from Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja powered India to a massive 649 for nine declared in their first innings.

As soon as Jadeja completed his maiden Test hundred with a single in the 150th over, Captain Kohli declared the Indian first innings.

Jadeja finished unbeaten on 100 from 132 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes as India continued to plunder the hapless West Indies bowling attack.

Kohli had eased his way to 139 to register his 24th Test century, while Rishabh Pant stroked a quickfire 92 from 84 balls.

The opening day belonged to debutant Prithvi Shaw, who stole the headlines with a sensational century in his first innings in Test cricket.

At 18 years and 329 days, Shaw became the youngest Indian and fourth-youngest overall to score a ton on his Test debut during a stunning knock of 134 off 154 balls.
