Pant, Rahane hit 50s; India in control

India 285-4 (73 ovs) vs WI 311 | Scorecard

Pant's dropped catch by substitute wicketkeeper Hamilton off Gabriel is proving to be quite costly for the Windies.

He was on 24 then and India were in a spot of bother, having lost their captain Kohli and only the all-rounders and lower order to follow, but West Indies messed up an easy chance to take the upperhand.

Pant has batted fluently and hit boundaries regularly to stroke his way to 66, while Rahane has blossomed after a cautious start to stroke a solid 60.

The two spinners continue to bowl in tandem with nine overs left for stumps.

And Pant won't hold back either. He lofts Warrican straight down the ground and takes on the fielder at long-on but manages to clear him, and gets a six in the process.

And Rahane has a chat with Pant after that shot asking him to be careful with his shot selection and the areas he is targetting.

No holding back for Pant, who comes down the track and swings the next ball over midwicket for another six.

Is he looking to complete his century before close of play?
