Eng 114-2 (43 ovs) & 332 vs India 292 | Scorecard

Root looking quite positive. Bumrah bowls the full inswinging delivery as Root plans his foot outside the line and clips it square for a boundary as he races to 27 from 29 balls.

Jadeja comes back into the attack for one last spell before stumps. He gets the ball to turn into the left-hander from the rough who is hit high on the pads as the Indians appeal but in vain. He gets a thick outside edge off the last ball for a single to retain strike.

Root is getting himself outside the line of off-stump to avoid getting out leg before wicket to the incoming deliveries from Bumrah, who is getting some good movement with the ball.

Root picks a single before Bumrah bowls a big wide to Cook, as it goes very wide and Pant dives in front of first slip but can't gather the ball to give away four byes.

Root has a close shave as he goes back to cut but the ball is quicker and comes in sharply and nearly crashes into the stumps but some extra bounce saves the right-hander.

Bumrah makes the ball go away from round the wicket as Cook has a poke away from his body and is beaten. He does well to get off strike with a single to deep square off the very next delivery, in the last over of the day.
