India 156-2 (34.5 ovs) vs NZ 157 | Scorecard

Shikhar Dhawan hit an unbeaten half-century to steer India to a convincing eight-wicket victory via the Duckworth-Lewis method against New Zealand in the first ODI in Napier.

Dhawan finished unbeaten on 75 to guide India to 156 for two in 34.5 overs to win with 85 balls to spare.

Earlier, New Zealand were bundled out for a paltry 157 in 38 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav claiming four for 39 and Mohammed Shami taking three for 19.

Captain Kane Williamson top-scored for New Zealand with a good innings of 64.

The target was revised to 156 from 49 overs after play was interrupted for 30 minutes when the setting sun made it difficult for the batsmen to spot the ball, leading to an interruption that has never been seen in international cricket before.
