He is off the mark in his Test debut. Siraj misses. He mis-times the next but will still get two runs. Pat Cummins chased to save a boundary. 

Starc continues, Natarajan misses first two deliveries. He fails to connect the next delivery too. He evades a short ball too. Big shout for LBW, umpire not interested. Maiden over for Starc. India still trail by 37 runs. 

Hazlewood continues, Siraj puts his bat to the bouncer and four runs! Yorker and could have managed a single but Siraj and Natarajan trying to hang in there. BOWLED! And with that Siraj wicket Hazlewood gets his five-for. Siraj managed 13 off 10 balls. 

India finish at 336 all out in 111.4 overs  and narrowed the deficit to only 33.

Cummins continues from the other end, Saini mis-times it but will get a single. Sundar evades the short pitched delivery. He survives the next four deliveries. After 107 overs, India are 320-7.

Lyon continues, Sundar cuts out to deep point, won't get runs. He lets some go to the keeper. Sundar paddles it, gets a top edge into his helmet. He lofts it in the air over the deep wide long-on boundary for six runs! What a way to finish the over. Time for drinks. India are 315-7 after 104 overs.

Cummins continues, Saini misjudges the bounce and the ball comes off the handle of the bat and it flies in the air. Four runs. Saini doesn't offer a shot. Just leaves the rest of the deliveries alone. Ducks the last short ball of the over. After 105 overs, India are 319-7.

Lyon continues, Sundar negotiates the spin once again. Maiden over for Lyon. India trail by 62 runs. 

Thakur defends the length delivery from Cummins. Thakur pulls in the air but it lands safe, will get two runs. BOWLED! Cummins gets the breakthrough! Thakur is beaten and gone for 67 off 115 balls. India lose seventh wicket.

Cummins is brought into the attack. Thakur defends and leaves the next alone. He doesn't offer shot, good leave. Thakur finds the gap and take two more runs. Top edge and Thakur hammers it for four runs. He again finds the gap for a single. India trail by 65 runs now. India reach 304-6.

Starc comes back stronger at Thakur. Second is bouncer which Thakur evades. Thakur lets that short one fly through along the ground, four runs! Thakur pushes the next to extra cover for a single. Sundar defends the last two. India trail by 91 runs. 

Lyon continues, Thakur hammers a cracking six to get to his fifty! His first Test fifty. What and amazing innings. He defends the next. Thakur hooks it to fine leg for a single. Now Sundar hammers boundary to being up their 100 partnership. Sundar pushes to point, no runs. After 96 overs, India are 289-6. They trail by 80 runs. 

Starc continues, Thakur pushes down the ground out to deep fine leg. Pat Cummins does well to save some runs. Sundar evades the short ball. He pushes to mid-off and with that his fifty comes up for the debutant. Thakur sends the ball straight to mid-off for a single. Sundar takes a nasty blow on the body. He evades the short ball now. After 97 overs, India are 292-6.

Lyon continues, Sundar steals a single. Thakur taps it down to keep it low. He defends the next on backfoot. Thakur does well to defend the rest of the over. After 92 overs, India trail by 101 runs.  

Starc continues, Sundar ducks under the short ball. He defends the next towards point. Edge and again finds the gap between gully, four runs! Another bouncer from Starc. Sundar nicely plays it. Close! Could have been edge! Sundar survives. Short ball, Sundar doesn't get his bat on to but, Paine finds it hard to catch. India are 272-6 after 93 overs. Both the batsmen are on 45.

Starc comes from the other end, Thakur times it well and sends the ball to the ropes for four runs! He leaves the next. Short ball and Thakur punishes it as he sends it to the boundary. He leaves the next alone. He taps it down, no runs. Dot ball to end the over. After 89 overs India are 261-6.  

From the Australian perspective, their pacers could not trouble the lower order batsmen even with the new ball and Lyon could also not trouble Sundar and Thakur.

Cummins is here, Sundar defends it without much movement. He pushes the next towards mid-off, won't get runs. Sundar is beaten! He punches next to point, no runs taken. Maiden over from Cummins. After 85 overs, India trail by 129 runs. 

Hazlewood continues, Thakur defends. He flicks the ball to long leg for a single. Gets hit on his gloves, physio is called. After treatment Thakur looks okay to continue. Sundar doesn't offer a shot. He then cuts the next through square leg for three runs. It was a long chase for Marcus Harris. Thakur defends it to midwicket. And gets a single off the last ball of the over. After 86 overs India are 245-6. 

Cummins continues, Thakur welcomes him with a boundary. Beats Green and another boundary to Thakur. Wade chases in vain. 

Sundar and Thakur bring up highest partnership for the seventh wicket for India at Brisbane with 67 runs. They go past Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar. 

Thakur leaves the next ball alone and ducks under the next bouncer. Dot ball to end the over. After 87 overs India are 253-6 at tea.

Australia take second new ball and Pat Cummins is here. Sundar does well to fend off the first ball. He loses balance while defending the extra bounce. Sundar punches the ball towards mid-off for two quick singles. The defends the next three balls well. After 81 overs India are 227-6. 

Hazlewood comes to bowl with the new ball. Thakur negotiates the bounce well and he leaves the next alone. Thakur is beaten. He recovers and hammers the ball to fine leg boundary for four runs! Another boundary! Thakur gets inside edge and the ball flies to the long leg boundary. Thakur defends the last ball of the over. After 82 overs, India are 235-6. 

Cummins continues, Sundar pushes off the back foot. He drives the next to the deep backward point boundary for four runs. Sundar misses it. He defends the next two. After 83 overs, India are 239-6.

Lyon continues, Thakur defends well. Third maiden over for Lyon in a row! Drinks are called. India trail by 154 runs. Sundar faces Starc, he leaves it alone. He evades a short pitched delivery. Sundar plays the ground to point for a single. Excellent fielding from Nathan Lyon. Thakur mis-hits, Green runs back towards the point boundary to try and get to the ball but he cannot manage it. Starc continues, Sundar flicks it away for three runs. Thakur slams it to long leg for a single. Paine collects the ball that was well over his head. Saved some runs there. Nathan Lyon is back, Thakur does well to keep the ball down. Another maiden over from Lyon. India trail by 164 runs.

Cummins continues, Pant cuts it to deep backward point for two quick singles. He sends the next back to the bowler. He defends the next. Pant plays a cover drives down the ground to deep cover for three runs. Nathan Lyon chases the ball and saves the boundary. Sundar does well to keep the ball down. 

India trail by 195 runs. 

Hazlewood goes round the wicket, Pant defends it. He flicks the ball to square for a single. Sundar lets it go to the keeper. He does well to keep his head down and bat on. After 65 overs India ate 175-5.

Washington Sundar is the new batsman.

But Pant and Agarwal are looking in good touch. India are still 208 runs behind Australia so they need a partnership now.

Starc continues, Pant keeps it down and takes a quick single. Agarwal leaves it alone. He times it well to send the ball to the ropes for four runs! Agarwal ducks under the bouncer. Pant finds gap and gets two quick singles. That was a long chase for Cummins but he does well to save some runs for his side. Pant blocks the next two to bring the first session to a close.

Starc strikes!  Rahane gets a thick edge, Starc has a fourth slip in place, Matthew Wade and he catches it at just above chest height! Rahane gone for 37 off 93 balls.

Australia looked visibly frustrated when play was abandoned despite the fact it looked like play could have resumed late on day two.  

But umpires weren't satisfied the outer part of the centre square would dry in time and called an end to the second day's play.  

Play will resume at 0500 IST today to try and make up for some lost time.
