# VVS Laxman's [ Images ] second hundred against Sri Lanka is his 16th in Tests - ninth in an overseas Test.
# Laxman has become the fourth to register a century in the fourth innings of a Test for winning cause for India. Gundappa Viswanath had made 112 against West Indies [ Images ] at Port of Spain in 1975-76, Sunil Gavaskar [ Images ] 102 against West Indies at Port of Spain in 1975-76, Sachin Tendulkar [ Images ] 103 not out against England [ Images ] at Chennai in 2008-09 and VVS Laxman 103 not out against Sri Lanka in the just concluded Test at Colombo (PSS).
# Laxman has posted six 50-plus scores in his last eight innings - 51 not out at Ahmedabad [ Images ], 63 at Kanpur and 62 at Mumbai [ Images ] in November/December 2009, followed by 22 & 69 at Galle, 29 at Colombo (SSC) and 56 & 103 not out at Colombo (PSS).
# Laxman has batted quite well to average 69.75 in the recently concluded series, aggregating 279 in five innings, including one century and two fifties.
# Tendulkar has amassed 867 runs at an average of 86.70 in seven Tests this year, including five centuries and two fifties - the most in 2010.
# Tendulkar and Laxman put on a fifth-wicket stand of 109 - India's highest against Sri Lanka at Colombo (PSS), beating the 105 in the first innings of the just concluded Test between Raina and Laxman.
# Suraj Randiv [ Images ] (5/82) has recorded his first five-wicket haul in Tests, surpassing the 4 for 80 in the first innings of the just concluded Test.
# Randiv's excellent figures of 9 for 162 are the best by a Sri Lankan spinner against India at Colombo (PSS), obliterating the 8 for 137 by Ajantha Mendis [ Images ] in 2008.
# In the course of his match-winning century, VVS Laxman (103 not out off 149 balls) has completed his 4,000 runs in Asia, aggregating 4086 runs at an average of 47.51 in 66 Tests. His run-aggregate includes eight hundreds and 27 fifties.
# For the first time in a Test match against Sri Lanka Laxman has registered a century and a fifty - 56 & 103 not out.
# India's five-wicket triumph is their fourth over Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka and their 35th on foreign soil.
# Tendulkar has recorded 77 century stands - a tally bettered only by Rahul Dravid [ Images ] (82) and Ricky Ponting [ Images ] (78).
# Laxman and Raina were associated in a stand of 87 (unbroken) - India's second highest for the sixth wicket at Colombo (PS) - the highest is 90 between Mohinder Amarnath aad Sunil Gavaskar in 1985.
# Suresh Raina [ Images ], in his first ever rubber, has averaged 111.50, aggregating 223 in three innings, including one hundred and one fifty.
# India's aforesaid victory is their first in four Tests at Colombo (PSS). Sri Lanka had won by 149 runs in 1985 and by 8 wickets in 2008. The 1993 Test could not produce a result at this venue.
# Since losing to Pakistan by 301 runs in 1994, Sri Lanka have lost their first Test at Colombo (PSS). Before their five-wicket loss to India, Sri Lanka had won five consecutive Tests.
# Sri Lanka have won lost three, won seven and drawn four out of 14 contested at Colombo (PSS).
# Sachin Tendulkar has produced his best series performance against Sri Lanka, amassing 390 at an average of 78.00 - the most by an Indian in the recently concluded series. The said tally is the second highest, next only to Kumar Sangakkara's [ Images ] tally of 467 (ave.116.75).
# Tendulkar has missed aggregating 2000 runs against Sri Lanka. His tally of 1995 in 25 Tests at an average of 60.45 is the highest by any batsman against Sri Lanka.
# Tendulkar has averaged 50-plus in seven consecutive series for the first time in Tests - 56.57 against Australia [ Images ] in 2008-09, 52.00 against England in 2008-09, 68.80 against New Zealand [ Images ] in 2008-09, 65.66 against Sri Lanka in 2009-10, 132.00 against Bangladesh in 2009-10, 71.00 against South Africa [ Images ] in 2009-10 and 78.00 against Sri Lanka in 2010.
# VVS Laxman has posted his first century in Sri Lanka, bettering the 69 at Galle last month.
# Laxman's aforesaid century is his first in the fourth innings of a Test match, outstripping the 74 against England at Lord's in July 2002.
# Laxman has been adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for the fourth time - his first against Sri Lanka.
# Virender Sehwag [ Images ] has received the Player of the series award for the fifth time, setting an Indian record. Anil Kumble [ Images ], Kapil Dev [ Images ] and Sachin Tendulkar share the second place with four such awards each.
