The Indian cricket team, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on Sunday returned home after losing the tri-nation series final to Sri Lanka in Dambulla on Saturday.

The cricketers arrived in Chennai on Sunday morning from the island nation and all the players, except Dhoni, have left for their respective hometowns.

Dhoni, also the captain of the Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings, is expected to attend a felicitation function being organised by the IPL team, where Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan will be honoured for becoming the first cricketer to scalp 800 Test wickets.

Muralitharan recently touched the milestone in the first Test against India in Galle.

The programme, which will be held in the city on Monday, will also be the send off ceremony for the CSK team for next month's Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa.
